Did you know that companies in the UK are now required to include certain regulatory information on their websites and in their email footers from 1st January 2007 or you will breach the Companies Act and risk a fine?
If you did not, you are not alone, it seems that a lot of business people have been caught unaware of the new legislation.
Every company should ensure that it now lists its company registration number, place of registration and registered office address on its website following an update to the legislation of 1985. This information should also appear on order forms and in your emails. As a business you are already required to display this information on 'business letters' but the duty has now been extended to websites, order forms and your electronic documents.
But before you panic and think every page on your website will need updating, this is not the case. The required information does not need to appear on every page, if you have this information (which should be easy to find) in your company, about us' or legal information pages/docs our understanding is that this will be fine.
If you are a business (limited company) you need to include your company registration number, place of registration and registered office address on all your email footers, your order forms and within your websites (Comapny info or legal docs) which must be in legible characters.
